Yuletide meme
Dec. 12th, 2021 06:31 pmI should be writing, but hey, let's do a meme instead. Borrowed from

Dear Yuletide Author 2018
Oct. 16th, 2018 10:33 pmDear Yuletide Writer,
Thank you so much for writing for me! I'm excited to read whatever you write.
I've provided some general preferences below along with some prompts for each fandom. Hopefully something here will inspire you! If not, optional details are optional; go ahead and write the story you want to write. Though if you could avoid my DNWs, I'd appreciate it.
Also, I'm skieswideopen on AO3 and on Tumblr, though I don't use the latter very much.
( General preferences )
( Battle Creek )
( Being Human (US/Canada) )
( The Collector )
( Intelligence (US) )
( Take Two )
Thank you again for writing for me!

Oct. 2nd, 2016 10:19 pmWow, Madam Secretary, that's really not what I was expecting you to do. At all. But it could be an interesting season. (And now I see why they've steered clear of using actual party names.)
And now that I have some idea how the season will look, I guess I can write that section of my Yuletide letter!

Yuletide Recs
Dec. 27th, 2015 10:22 pmI was lucky enough to get TWO Battle Creek fics this year, which was ridiculously exciting for me:
Lost to Be Found - 10,000 words of absolutely delightful Milt and Russ post-series friendship that softens the edges in their relationship a little without getting sappy or out of character.
The Big Nap - A fantastically clever little Milt/Russ story that makes use of my one bulletproof AU love by turning Milt into a PI. Kind of.
And a few other things that I've read and enjoyed:
Anne of Green Gables: To Dream of Happiness (Walter/Una, Teen, 2291 words) - A wistful and hopeful written fix-it AU that matches the tone of the canon beautifully.
Blackadder Goes Forth: Private Correspondence (Blackadder/Darling, Teen, 6472 words) - Blackadder, as usual, is scheming to escape the front and running into all sorts of terrible luck in the process. This captures the spirit and the language of the show perfectly, and I literally laughed aloud reading it.
Justified: all our plans and crimes (Gen, Teen, 2082 words) - Loretta gets a letter and a phone from Raylan a few years after the show ends. This is a really nice look at how things could turn out for clever, competent Loretta. It's not the fate I'd wish for for her, it's an entirely plausible one.
Lord Peter Wimsey: Christmas at Duke's Denver (Peter/Harriet, General Audiences, 2501 words) - A sweet and entertaining depiction of Peter and Harriet's first Christmas with Peter's family.

Happy New Year!
Jan. 3rd, 2015 01:37 pmHappy New Year!
I hope you all had a good holiday, if you celebrated any of the recent holidays. Mine were typical: turkey and family and gifts on Christmas, and then Chinese food and slightly less family on New Year's Day. It was nice.
My week of reception temp work ended up being very quiet, which gave me time to read some Yuletide fic. I got THREE Intelligence stories, two in the main collection from my assigned author, and a Madness ficlet from someone else. So, so awesome!
Mom Knows Best (4414 words) is a Gabriel/Riley fic that picks up where the series finale leaves off, and I Carved a Block of Wood (2342 words) is a pre-series look at Gabriel & Shen's relationship not long before Riley comes on the scene. They're both by
shetiger, and they're both awesome and worth reading if you liked the show. And Dear George (332 words, gen) by misura is a cute look at some other possible uses of the chip, and very, very Nelson.
My story was Tidings of Comfort and Joy (2735 words, gen), a Believe story focusing on Tate and Bo, with appearances from Winter and Channing.
This weekend I'm working on
gameofcards challenges and
fandom_stocking. I'm also debating whether to sign up for
shipswap. I do have a few rare pairings I like right now, but they mostly involve single-episode guest stars, which might be a bit difficult to match on. (Seriously. How did I end up shipping THREE pairings involving characters who only show up once?) So I might skip it. I haven't decided yet.

Nomination Discussion
Sep. 16th, 2013 11:39 pmI took photos all day planning to do my "day in the life" post for
thecoffeehouse, but I'm too tired now to edit and upload them, so I'll save that for tomorrow and--since nominations opened today--I'll put up the nominations I'm considering for Yuletide instead.

Post-holiday stupor
Dec. 26th, 2012 12:25 amI had a good Christmas, with family and turkey and gifts and poker and snow and Doctor Who. In other words, everything Christmas should be! (Well, if you're me.)
And there was fic!
For Yuletide, I got an absolutely wonderful Justified story about Rachel and Raylan helping Tim out and all three of them generally being awesome: Justice, Integrity, Service.
And for the Due South exchange, I received a very lovely Stella-centric fic focusing on her take on her life: I'm Not Sorry I Met You; I'm Not Sorry It's Over.
I hope you all had a fantastic day!
