Things to Do on Dreamwidth

(For all the people who have recently created or rediscovered DW accounts and are wondering what to do next. Please don't take this as a suggestion that you should be there. I'm not trying to convert people; I'm just offering suggestions to the people who are looking around there anyway. Personally, I plan to continue cross-posting to both sites as long as I have friends on both.)

First, there's a friending meme going on right now, in case you're looking to expand your reading list. Second, colls has pointed me toward this list of other DW comms that people might find interesting.

And some other things.

(Multi-)Fannish Things
fandomcalendar A general bulletin board for various ficathons, exchanges, challenges, etc. Invaluable enabler material.
fic_promptly Multi-fandom comment-fic community similar to comment_fic.
fandom_newsletters has a list of active fandom newsletters on LJ and DW.
toodamnpretty Pretty pictures of pretty actors. Yes, we're absolutely that shallow.
fanart_recs Exactly what the name says.
fancake A thematic, multi-fandom fanfic rec community.
bestthingever For recs of really great, brand new fic.
fandom_fanvids Multi-fandom fanvid community.
wehazmafia Self-explanatory if you already play mafia.
shes_awesome A community dedicated to awesome women, and in particular to awesome female television and movie characters.
fanbingo An ongoing, no-deadlines bingo. They're sometimes a bit slow to get cards out, though, so consider yourselves warned.

Dreamwidth Things
dw_suggestions If you want to vote on possible future changes at DW.
dw_community_promo The official promotion community for new communities.

(One last thing: if you want to use Flexible Squares (or Smooth Sailing or Mixit or Nebula) over on Dreamwidth, you may want to try this version of the code. Although if you're willing to try a new look, it's apparently worth considering native DW styles, which give you a little more flexibility.)

This post is awesome. I will have to explore all of those. I've been kind of lax about joining comms on DW.

Some of the comms are good. Also, sixty-six comms? It looks like you're pretty well into DW comms. ;)
